Tama Zoo

If tourists in Japan get to see a zoo, it most likely is Ueno zoo (Ueno dobutsuen). Sure, it is easy to get there when you're in Tokyo, as it is located right behind Ueno station in the heart of Tokyo and it is OK for killing an hour or two on a rainy Sunday afternoon. However, a zoo much more worthwhile to visit if you have a day to spend is Tama Zoological Park. Especially if you have kids, do them a favour and go to Tama, not Ueno.
