< Preparation | From Switzerland to Japan by Train | Visas > Travel AgencyThere was a fair nearby, dedicated to holiday and travelling. Great opportunity to gather some information. Lots of agencies offering the usual type of 2 weeks beach stuff etc, but not many who do offer something along the lines I was looking for and even fewer which offer this kind of trip other than a prearranged pack tour. The two exceptions are Globetrotter and GUSReisen. They both were offering Trans Siberian for individuals with various options to choose from. A colleague recommended MonkeyShrine, which he used years ago and was very happy with. I did some more research on the internet and the offers of Knopreisen and Travel Service Asia, both German travel agencies specialized for the Trans Siberian and related travelling and catering for the individual tourist, appealed to me the most. I asked for a quote from both of them and finally settled with Travel Service Asia (TSA), never regretting it. While TSA would usually take care of all the visa applications if you live in Germany, I was living in Switzerland which would have made this difficult. Besides, I wanted to do it myself anyway, and I'm glad I did it myself. It was a very interesting experience to see how differently the four embassies handled visa applications. < Preparation | From Switzerland to Japan by Train | Visas > |
